NZHPA Education Grants

NZHPA administers a fund to assist members to attend courses, attend conferences to present papers, or to undertake special projects

Recipients of the NZHPA Education grants are required to present a report to the Executive that will be shared with members

Value of the award is at the discretion of the Executive.

NZHPA Travel Grants

The NZHPA Executive have set aside funding to assist members travelling from out of the region with travel expenses associated with attending the Annual Conference.

How much funding is available to each applicant depends on the number of applications received, previous year’s conference profit, and is subject to the approval of the NZHPA Executive. It is hoped that NZHPA members can be reimbursed for the following travel expenses, air flights, out of region travel and mileage

Tech SIG Grant

Technician Conference Attendance Grants

NZHPA Executive provide funding for two Pharmacy Technician members to attend NZHPA Annual Conference each year

CNO Nutrition and Compounding Education Grant

The CNO Special Interest Group is dedicated to the continuing education of New Zealand pharmacy members who work in compounding, nutrition and oncology. To help aid those working within the areas of compounding and nutrition the CNO SIG has created an education grant to allow members to access further educational opportunities in their field and share the information gained with colleagues.

Max Health Innovation Grant

- Do you have a great idea for improving patient care?
- Are you struggling to implement a new model of service due to lack of resources?
- Are you currently running something that needs a boost?
- Got the initiative, but need the support?
If the answer is yes, this $3000 award could be for you!

Grant Criteria

  1. Grants are open to Ordinary (both technicians and pharmacists), Life and Intern members. The following membership categories are not eligible for grants: Associate, Honorary, Student and Corporate as per Membership Benefits guide.

  2. The grants are about personal development in the applicants’ role, which will have an improvement on their practice and a positive impact for patients and the workplaceApplicants need to demonstrate clearly how the event will support them in their current role and how the profession and NZHPA will benefit.

  3. The intention is not to award grants for attendance at our events, the only exception being the Technician grants. In general the range of educational events for pharmacy technicians to attend- is limited compared to Pharmacists, which means that their access to NZHPA grants is inequitable. The introduction of the following grants aims to address this in some way:

    1. Tech SIG Symposium Attendance grant

    2. Technician NZHPA Conference Attendance grant

  4. Funding requests from applicants who have not previously received funding are given a higher priority, all else being equal e.g. robust and worthy application.

  5. We don’t usually award to the same person in the same 12 month grant period (see individual grant for specific grant period), with the exception of funding towards PG papers

  6. Grant applications are reviewed at executive meetings at the frequency stated in the individual grant criteria below. Executive meeting dates will be made available on the website.

  7. Members are encouraged to apply well in advance of the event they are wishing to attend, so they have certainty as to the outcome of the application prior to the event.  Please note

    1. Grant applications submitted restrospectively for an event will not be accepted.

    2. Grant applications submitted in advance of the event will be reviewed by the Executive, even if the event has occurred prior to the Executive meeting.

  8. If successful applicants do not use the full amount awarded, the unused balance cannot be put towards another event.

  9. Unless otherwise specified, funding is awarded on the receipt of the following within 90 days of the event, or completion of the post-graduate paper/s:

    1. A copy of the letter offering the grant

    2. A report of the event and a recent photo of the recipient, that will be published in the newsletter (not applicable for PG grants)

    3. An expenses claim form with supporting receipts (tax invoices) for appropriate expenses

Applicants must be current NZHPA members when claiming reimbursement.
